A study conducted by researchers at the University of California-Davis, found that people who drank one glass of vegetable juice every day will meet nearly twice the servings of vegetables. In addition, 9 of 10 participants who drank 100% vegetable juice say that they feel have done something useful for themselves.
"This study shows that this method will not only educate the public about the importance of vegetables, but also showed that consumption of vegetables through the daily diet are more easy," said study co-author Carl Keen, professor of Nutrition and Internal Medicine at University of California-Davis.
"A simple way to drink your vegetables will be an effective trick in achieving health change," he said.
Eat more vegetables can be an easy way to manage your weight because the vegetables have more nutrients and fewer calories.
A study from Baylor College of Medicine suggests that overweight people with metabolic syndrome who drank 1-2 100% vegetable juice as part of daily diet, lose more weight comparing to other participants who did not drink the juice.
Besides weight loss, vegetable juice drinkers will significantly increase the intake of vegetables, vitamin C, and potassium during the study. "How to eat vegetables easily is very important because the vegetables have so many benefits, disease prevention and to manage your weight," says John Foreyt, director of the Behavioral Medicine Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine.
According to USDA guidelines for Americans states that 3/4 cup of 100% vegetable juice is equivalent to one serving of vegetables. This is upheld by a recent study, which found that juices provide the same health benefits as whole vegetables in terms of reducing risks of cardiovascular disease and cancer. Another study has found that drinking vegetable juice reduces risks of Alzheimer's Disease by 76%.
