Research at Florida State is not the only one that linked apple consumption to heart health. In the past year, a study in Iowa reported that in the 34 thousands of women who had been monitored for 20 years, the apple was associated with a lower risk of death from coronary heart disease and cardiovascular disease.
Several years earlier, the Finnish researchers studied the data which collected over 28 years from 9208 men and women. Founded that eating apples will make a much lower risk of stroke. Experts say the antioxidant compounds found in apples help prevent LDL cholesterol from oxidation and inhibit inflammation. Meanwhile, the soluble fiber in apples also lowers cholesterol levels.
