Chocolate, Healthy Food For Heart
Dark chocolate has been known as the good snacks for heart healthy. Cocoa beans is a natural source of flavanols (antioxidants high concentrated), and is quite important in daily health care.
However, recent study at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan found that  epicatechin (compounds in the vegetable) in chocolate can stimulate muscle growth. Stimulation is the same as when someone makes an intense physical activity, like jogging. In the other words, eating a small serving of dark chocolate can improve health as well as exercise.
Referring to the results of experiments on mice, shown that ecatechin also helps the production of more mitochondria in the body. These substances work like small batteries that provide energy for the body. Mitochondria also improve the performance of capillary vessels. These vessels tasked stream of oxygen, nutrients, hormones and other substances contained in blood.
"Aerobic exercise such as running or cycling, can increase the number of mitochondria in muscle cells," said Dr. Moh Malek, as quoted by the Times of India.
Dr. Malek added, "Our study found that epicatechin could give the same effect (like jogging), especially in cardiac and skeletal muscle."
Although the experiments conducted on mice, Dr. Malek said, the same effect can also occur in humans. The study itself was published in the Journal of Physiology
